A century later dams built in the area began to threaten much of the 12,000 year history<br \/>\nthat was carved in stone along the river banks.\n<strong>James and Annie Hansen, James and Maury Haseltine<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Carl Heller<\/strong> set about copying<br \/>\nas a way of preserving many of the historic petroglyphs in the region.
