Motivated by rock art images along the Columbia River, she produces large scale metal sculpture as well as fine jewelry that reflects the 10,000 year tradition and beauty of her People.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;Seeing the image of &#8216;She Who Watches&#8217; was a very profound moment for me because it let me know exactly who I am and it gave me a sense of power no one can remove from me.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t<h2><b>Maynard White-Owl Lavadour<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>Beadwork Artist<br \/>\n<\/b><\/h2>\n\t<p>Maynard is carrying forward the traditional Plateau art forms he learned from his Grandmothers. He is an outstanding beadwork artist and a dedicated teacher of all aspects of traditional Plateau culture.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;It\u2019s something that I hold very special to me, being born into a family of very knowledgeable elders in all aspects of our traditional life.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mimbresfever.com\/redesign\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/maynard.jpg\" alt=\"maynard\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"159\" width=\"168\" title=\"maynard\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mimbresfever.com\/redesign\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/elaine.jpg\" alt=\"elaine\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"159\" width=\"144\" title=\"elaine\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t<h2><strong>Elaine Timentwa Emerson<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Basket Weaver<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n\t<p>Elaine is a well-respected artist and teacher of cedar bark basket weaving.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;When I was growing up, we were not allowed to speak our language, we were punished. I think that\u2019s what made me do the baskets. He teaches at Evergreen State College.<\/p>\n\t<h2><b>Pat Courtney Gold<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>Wasco Basket Weaver<br \/>\n<\/b><\/h2>\n\t<p>Pat is restoring the art of Wasco basket weaving. With advice from elders in her community and guidance from basketmaker and writer Mary Schlick, she has relearned the art of full-turn twining.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;My feeling of well being and happiness goes into this basket. Everything revolves around the salmon. We use it for ceremonial purposes, for memorials, funerals, namings.
