An intimate look at the work and lives of five outstanding elder Northwest basketweavers who are carrying forward their unique and rich tribal traditions.
 
Each basket reveals a story of harmony with the environment, cultural survival, and hope for the future.   Each weaver is a master artist and an important player in the ongoing Northwest revitalization movement.

The video can be seen daily at the Northwest Museum of Art & Culture in Spokane, Washington.

"Northwest Native Basketweavers: Honoring Our Heritage" will be broadcast on PBS Stations KWSU and KTNW in Washington State in the coming months.  The program is entirely in Native voice with original music by James E. Greeley. Click here for more info.

California Baskets"

A survey of historic baskets woven in California and the rich traditions of the Grandmothers who wove them. Chumash weaver Linda Aguilar gives a contemporary perspective. Baskets are from private and public collections, including works by Datsolalee, Elizabeth Hickox, as well as a collection of rare Chumash baskets. Hosted by Gregory Schaaf, Ph.D.
